  • Idea: An Urban Choreography Game

I had a dream last night, featuring a game that could be described as ‘Dance Dance Revolution meets Mirror’s Edge meets Tekken 3’. It’s set in an urban environment where you need to get from a place to a place using the most fluid navigational choreography possible.

Basically, a level is one big combo where you need to time your keypresses to those displayed on-screen à la DDR. Except every keypress stands for a movement - vaults, drops, jumps, leaps, underbars, tic-tacs, balancing on handrails are all possible - or an attack. If you’re a lousy player, you just run and punch those in the way, but if you’re a good player and manage to get into the flow, the game becomes altogether more beautiful, where even the music is in sync with your movement. It is then an experience, a trip, rather than just a game.
